My husband and I love to travel.  We love being outdoors, fishing, camping, and sitting around campfires.  In early 2007, we bought a 36-foot fifth-wheel to enhance our camping pleasures.

We are at that age where camping is most fun when we bring along a king-sized bed…

It's nice not having to run out and buy ice every day to "hopefully" keep food cool.

The stove and kitchen sink makes it easier to cook and clean-up afterwards as well.

The TV and DVD are nice, but not as high on the list as the other things.

However, comfy chairs to watch TV and DVD's are certainly becoming more important.

And our daughter determined that a sofa-bed is preferable to sleeping on the ground in a tent.

This blog describes our travelling adventures.  Most of the adventures are camping related, but not all of them, as you will see with our vacation in May of 2012.

Some of you may be wondering how our blog got its name.  Well, when our son was about 6 years old, my husband asked him to “tell your maternal parent” something.  I can’t remember exactly what my husband wanted, but our son replied “she’s not a turtle!”  He was really into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at the time and thought my husband called me Ma Turtle instead of maternal.  So…, my husband has been calling me Ma Turtle ever since and I call him Pa Turtle.  It just seemed appropriate to call our fifth-wheel the Turtle Shell.  We hope you enjoy reading and laughing at our adventures.  I know we have fun talking about them.
